Athlone Stadium to host Western Province Currie Cup

Athlone Stadium remains a popular venue and has become diverse in its offering to host events. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Stadium was utilised as a mass vaccination site and the only drive-through vaccination site within the Western Cape. The City is proud to announce the return of Rugby to the Athlone Stadium where two Currie Cup matches will be played over two consecutive weeks, with the first one tonight.  

The teams that will participate are DHL Western Province versus the Airlink Pumas on 19 May 2023 and DHL Western Province versus the Lions on 26 May 2023.

Gates open:          15:30

Kick off:                  17:00

Venue:                   Athlone Stadium, Cross Boulevard, Athlone

General Parking is available as follows:

Approaching from Vanguard Drive (Jakes Gerwil) or M5 direction, the public is requested to park at P3 or P4. Also, enter Hickory Street from Klipfontein Road (one-way) and turn left into P3 or P4.
